OLIVIER RATSI
Born in 1972 in Paris, Olivier Ratsi lives in the Lot region of France. A French visual artist, he explores perceptions of space, time, and matter through immersive visual and sound installations conceived as sensitive territories to be experienced.
His work questions the instability of reality, using light as a medium of transformation, revelation, and disappearance. By altering spatial and temporal references, he creates perceptual environments that engage the viewer's movement, posture, and bodily presence. The viewer becomes a co-author of the experience, recomposing the work through their own perception.
Anamorphosis, a technique he has developed over several years, plays a central role in his approach. It enables a deconstruction of objective reality and opens a mental field where the image becomes fluid, unstable, and multiple. Rather than aiming for a purely visual effect, his works are conceived as environments to be activated, traversed, and inhabited.
A co-founder and former member of the AntiVJ collective, Olivier Ratsi now pursues a solo career. He has been represented by Galerie Bigaignon in Paris since 2024, where he presented the solo exhibition La Chute d’Icare that same year. His work has also been presented in numerous museums, galleries, art centers, and festivals in France and internationally. He has exhibited at the Marta Herford Museum, the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, the D-Museum in Seoul, the K11 Art Village in Wuhan, Galerie Denise René, Galerie Charlot, and regularly takes part in festivals including Elektra, Mutek, Mirage, Bains Numériques, LEV, Signal, and Sonica.
He is now widely recognized for his immersive installations, which combine conceptual precision, sensory experience, and the viewer’s active engagement within reconfigured space.
