RENATO D'AGOSTIN
Renato D’Agostin was born in 1983 in Venice, where he began in 2001 to embrace photography to portray thecity that surrounds him. The atmosphere of the city nourished his curiosity and pushed him to discover the capitals of Western Europe, before reaching New York. In the effervescence of the city, he has the chance to meet the photographer Ralph Gibson and becomes his assistant with whom he will work for six years.
Considered as a real print master, Renato quickly developed a personal language. Dislocating the subjects from their realities, he depicts in his series such as “Harmony of chaos” a unique perception of space and plays with the relationship between man and architecture, opening a new portal in the spectator’s imagination. His works have been shown in several exhibitions in Europe, United States and Asia, and most of his series were published in monographs. His work is now part several prestigious public collections such as The Library of Congress and The Phillips Collection in Washington DC, the International Center of Photography in New York, as well as LACMA in Los Angeles, the Center for Creative Photography in Arizona and the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris. After 13 years living and working in New York, D’Agostin in 2018 has returned to his motherland, Italy, setting up a studio near Venice.
