Sabine Mirlesse

Sabine Mirlesse

Franco-American artist Sabine Mirlesse holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies and English Literature from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, and additionally studied for one year at the Universiteit van Amsterdam in The Netherlands. In 2010 she graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from Parsons the New School for Design in New York City.

Her work explores stories about land, geology, ritual, thresholds and imprints, the individual’s relationship to origin, and a place’s ability to evoke narrative whether real or imagined. Much of her inspiration is grounded in literature.

Photography is her primary medium, however drawings, found images, relief prints, stone work, video, and writing are also incorporated into her practice.
In 2018, she spent several months as an artist-in- residence at Santa Fe Art Institute in New Mexico. Mirlesse’s second monograph, Pietra di Luce, published with Les Graphiquants in 2019, includes essays by Federica Soletta and Jean-Pierre Criqui.
