The Corsica I remember takes root somewhere in the late sixties.

Hot, sunny, cuttlefish, sea urchins, lobsters, shellfish, summer showers, a sea of oil or vinegar. These images are not objective; perhaps they are simply a story, the story of a happy childhood spent between sea and mountains, in the hollows of lost coves, salt in the corner of the eyes and feet studded with sand, the story of carefree, sunny vacations, sensations lost and then rediscovered through photography.

An archaeology of sorts, but the backwash of time alters the traces left in memory. What remains are the sensations: the smell of early-morning scrubland, the salty taste of the sea, the ossuaries of storms, salt-bleached driftwood, the shivering heat, the noises, the lights...

La Corse que j'ai en mémoire prend racine quelque part à la fin des années soixante.

Brûlante, ensoleillée, seiches, oursins, langoustes, coquillages, averses d'été, mer d'huile ou de vinaigre. Ces images ne sont pas objectives, peut-être est-ce seulement une histoire, celle d'une enfance heureuse passée entre mer et montagne, au creux des criques perdues, le sel au coin des yeux et les pieds constellés de sable, celle de vacances insouciantes et solaires, de sensations perdues puis retrouvées via la photographie.

Une archéologie en quelque sorte, mais le ressac du temps modifie les traces laissées dans la mémoire. Restent les sensations : les odeurs du maquis de bon matin, le goût salé de la mer, les ossuaires de tempêtes, bois flottés blanchis au sel, la chaleur qui fait frissonner, les bruits, les lumières...
