This book, prepared in collaboration with the Yves Klein Archives, tells the story for the first time of the intense relationship between Yves Klein (1928-1962) and America: fascination, reciprocal influences, successful and unsuccessful encounters, exchanges, travel... Numerous archive documents (photos, correspondence, etc.), often unpublished, testify to the links Yves Klein forged with the United States in four major stages (Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Paris). Throughout the pages, we meet some of the great figures of the American art scene: Leo Castelli, Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, Marcel Duchamp, Virginia Dwan, Ed Kienholz...

This exceptional album opens with an interview with Rotraut Klein-Moquay, who recalls her trip with Yves Klein to the United States in 1961, followed by a chronology of Yves Klein's work. Ce livre, préparé en collaboration avec les Archives Yves Klein, raconte en images, pour la première fois, l’histoire de la relation intense entre Yves Klein (1928-1962) et l’Amérique : fascination, influences réciproques, rencontres, réussies ou manquées, échanges, voyages... De très nombreux documents d’archives (photos, correspondances, etc.), souvent inédits, témoignent en quatre grandes étapes (Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Paris) des liens qu’Yves Klein a tissés avec les États-Unis. On croise ainsi au fil des pages de grandes figures de la scène artistique américaine : Leo Castelli, Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, Marcel Duchamp, Virginia Dwan, Ed Kienholz...

Cet album exceptionnel s’ouvre par un entretien avec Rotraut Klein-Moquay, qui évoque son voyage avec Yves Klein aux États-Unis en 1961, suivi d’une chronologie du travail d’Yves Klein.
